My brake pedal on my 2008 Tacoma seems to have a lot of travel. I've drove other ones and those brake pedals don't travel as much as mine. It's not spongy and parking brake works. Does the shoes have to be adjusted? Anyone else have this problem and with adjusting them it fixes the problem?

Not a first gen, so you're in the wrong section. But yes, adjust the drums, they need to have a slight audible drag when turning, but still spin easily (with wheels off). If not, adjust them as necessary. If that doesn't fix it, bleed the lines.

I saw that I'm new to this I couldn't figure out if to change it to 2nd gen. Thanks for your reply I will adjust them with the wheels off.

Not sure how it is on your gen but there is a star wheel you can access through a hole in the backing plate, that's where you do the shoe adjustment. Use a flathead or whatever. I prefer to just remove the drum and adjust the star wheel there, put it back on and check for a slight drag. It's just easier and less time spent laying on the ground.
