I know this is a long shot and I'm asking folks to blindly throw darts, but I wanted to see if I could get any help tracking down a couple of sounds.

The first, I'm pretty sure I can find, but figured I'd ask. It is a rattle that comes from just under the dash right behind the radio. If I put the slightest bit of pressure on the top of the dash, right in the middle, it will stop. I'm considering adding an LOC to the stock radio in the near future and, if I do, I figure that while the radio is out, I can check for anything that could be hitting and possibly wrap it in something soft. I heard that rattle when I bought the truck a few weeks ago and figured it was something I could easily fix. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

The second is one I'm having a hell of a time tracking down. It only recently started - about 4 days ago. It sounds less like two things hitting and more like two pieces of plastic rubbing against one another, creating almost a squeaking sound. It is persistent even at very low speeds over pretty smooth surfaces and it doesn't get more pronounced when I go over rougher patches of pavement. It is a very short and frequent sound, so if it is something rubbing, it is rubbing back in forth in a short, but fast motion (I hope that makes sense). I have been driving around for the past three days at low speeds trying to push, pull, wiggle, or do anything that affects the sound, to no avail. If I had to locate the sound, it is left of the speedometer and almost sounds like it might be coming from the far left air vent or possibly under the dash (think OBDII area). I got underneath there and looked around, but I can't repeat it when stopped, even with the slight shimmy from the engine running, so it is hard to diagnose. It is driving me absolutely insane. Like, give a shop $250 to make it go away level of insanity.

Additional remedies attempted that don't work:

    Turning the radio up
    Putting the windows down

It isn't too loud, but it is close enough and a high enough frequency, that I can hear it over a lot of other noises.

Any suggestions about where to look?

Same thing happens to mine it's the piping for the two center air vents. It doesn't hurt anything so I left it alone.

    Mine is hurting my sanity.

I'll see if I can get at the vent piping.

I did notice that the creak is present on warm days, but not cooler days. It happened to be a little cooler this morning and I didn't hear it. By the afternoon, it had warmed up a bit and it was back. It is certainly two pieces of plastic with a really tight fit that expand a bit in the heat, then rub.
