Anybody recommend Portable Lithium Booster Pack Jump Starters

Does anybody recommend Portable Lithium Booster Pack Jump Starter (vs jumper cables)?

How long do the jumper packs hold the charge? Can I charge it up and keep it in the truck and then use it say a month later?

 

I have this one, the listing says only for 2.5l engine and smaller but I started a Tundra and a 7.3 diesel with it in the last two weeks. If you read the reviews people start larger engines frequently. The diesel was completely dead, sat for 2 weeks with headlights on. This one self discharges less than 25% over 6 weeks, so charging it here and there is recommended. You can charge this one from your micro USB charger in your truck. Also it is tiny, about the size of an ipod.

With this powerful lithium battery, I would be nervous about the possible self-ignition, like the hover-board ones.
Time will tell.

 

Three years ago I bought one from antigravitybatteries.com

There was two sizes at the time, got the smaller one, meant for it to be for my bikes. Arrived in October, charged it, ended up in the back of my 4 runner.

Three months later, came back off a 14 hour run in a rig to find out I'd left the lights on. In -25c. That battery was d-e-d dead. Had cables, was gonna track down a boost, but then I remembered I had that little thing, figured I'd give it a shot.

It cranked that 3.4 v6 like is was getting a boost off a power stroke. Damn...and this was with it being as cold, and not charged in three months.

Can't speak for the other brands out there, but this one, I'd buy again. Money very well spent.

 

My daughter accidentally left her car door cracked open on her 2010 2.5L Camry. The battery, which was less than a year old (Optima Yellow Top) was stone dead. The starter would not even make clicking sounds. She tried using her Lithium booster pack, which was recently recharged. It did not help. Her Uncle came out to help her, and tried his booster pack. Same thing - no start. So then he tried jumper cables and got it started.

I have used this same booster pack before to help start someone's pickup truck with a V8 in it, so I know it works. My impression is that if the battery in the car is simply drained enough to prevent starting of the car, the booster pack should be enough to get you going; but if the battery is stone-dead cold, it may not be strong enough to start your car.

 

I just bought 2 of the antigravity XP-3 PPS on Amazon. Paid $80 for first ( XMAS gift ), price went down to $73 so bought myself one. Have not opened/used yet but this company and their products have good reviews. Warning- there seems to be counterfeit/faulty products out there so do some research.

 

Good price, I think mine was $120 three years ago.

Buy the best one you can afford, you'll be glad you did some day. I've had my Antigravity XP-10 for 5 years, charge it only if it needs it, maybe every 18 months or so. I put it in whatever vehicle I'm driving that day. Don't keep it in a vehicle. Heat/cold cycles will eventually kill any battery.

 

I have the Halo Bolt. It works great and has held a charge for over 6 months.
