Usually you replace the shims (since it usually comes with the new brake hardware). You can always go to rockauto.com

Take them back and buy a better pad.

They are called disc brake shims, and should come with the new pads

Suspect we have a case of budget pads? Return them and get the good stuff. Brakes are important.

What is the 'top' of the rotor? Do you mean the outer edge? Sounds like you have a bad caliper. Or one that at a minimum needs the hardware serviced so it moves freely again. Be sure you don't have a cocked piston that is frozen.

Well I'd not expect it to rub when parked. :D

make sure that you buy the crazy expensive bendix grease to go on all the moving parts. I suspect that they weren't sliding. I always buy the complete hardware kit with all the springs, pins, bolts etc. I pull apart and clean my brakes every spring thanks to the magnificent Ohio winters and our salt and calcium. Grease the backs go the pads as well.

Sometimes the shims come "pre installed" on pads, check to see if they're on there. You will need to grease the shims with caliper grease, to prevent squeaking and vibration. I cannot remember which side of the shims you need to grease, I'm guessing the side that goes up against the caliper, not the side that goes up against the pad. Someone correct me if wrong.

I like to grease everything, my arms, hair, jeans, the dog, and a few kids while I'm at it. I used to use never seize, but it didn't work half as good as the blue bendix stuff. I agree though that I don't put grease between the pad and the shim... I will never know what they do to never seize that literally covers everything in a two mile radius just by getting the bottle out of the cabinet.

03 is a 4 piston caliper, just pad retaining pins and surfaces were pad meets caliper need lube. but not a lot.

Weird, I ended up using some when I installed my Tundy brakes. Maybe it's optional?

I was laughing at your post because like yourself, never seize gets on everything no matter how careful I am.

I take that back there is some pins that hold pads in. I was thinking like sliding surfaces and pins like the 5 lug has.

    I fixed it
