I purchased a used Ford Fusion and either the previous owner or the dealer drowned the interior with the vanilla car scent. I've been leaving it parked outside with the windows down for the last couple of days and it's helping some. When the wind is blowing I can honestly smell the car from over 30 feet away.

Question is, how do I get rid of all that car scent? Second question, if I am able to neutralize the the odor, does anyone make a new car scent that actually smells like new car? All the ones I've tried end up smelling like Axe body wash. I've heard the Chemical Guys version is pretty close...

I have the Chemical Guys one. Yes, it kind of smells like new car but in the end it doesn't last very long. 3-4 days max. I would suggest an ozone generator to get rid of the smell.

You can try leaving a bowl of white vinegar in the car over night that will normally absorb allot of odors. You may need to clean the interior of the car to truly get rid of the odor.

Ozone generator... My lab puked in my wife's RAV4 when she was driving him to her job one day and she couldn't clean it up until she got home. Naturally the RAV4 stank forever despite my many attempts at cleaning it. The smell simply was just embedded in all of the upholstery in the car. I wound up buying a small ozone generator and ran it the car for awhile while I ran the heater. It literally eliminated all of the stink. Try it... it works.

At least it smells like vanilla. That "new car" scent smells like ass.
