Hey guys, I recently bought a 2013 Tacoma and noticed that it turns further to the right than it does to the left. What could be the problem? The truck has a rebuilt title so I know some work has been done to it. One thing I did notice was that the threading that is exposed on the tie rod ends is not the same... as you can see in the pics. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!IMG_6388.jpg

The lower intermediate steering shaft that connects to the steering rack may not be attached 100% Center
I made this mistake when I changed my rack I didn't Center the rack splines
I I remember correctly 2.something equal turns to the left or right centers the steering rack. You can check by lightly connecting vice grips to the steering rack spline and seeing how many rotations you get divided by 2
If it's only a slight difference it's probably not worth the effort to perfectly Center the steering rack and reconnect the lower steering shaft
If it's your steering wheel turns you are referring to is doubt it's cos of your tie rods

Yeah so the steering wheel turns 3 full turns to the right and 1 1/2 turns to the left.

If u diy make sure u lock or tie up the steering wheel so it doesn't move or u can break clockspring. Disconnect where lower steering shaft meets steering rack pinion. Rotate the splines on the rack pinion to center then reconnect.
I centered w rack out... not sure if ul have enough clearance to rotate if rack is in place

So easiest way to fix this is adjust tie rods so the threads are equal, then seperate the intermediate shaft (keeping steering wheel locked in center) then center your wheels, reattach the shaft. Get toe as close as you can eye balling it or measuring front and back of tires and get an alignment asap.

Call the alignment shop, state your case, they will most likely take care of it for you it will be done once and hopefully right.

I had an alignment done on it when I bought it about a month ago. I'm surprised they didn't catch that. I'll take it back into them and see what they have to say. Thanks for the input guys! Much appreciated.

Any alignment shop that didn't "catch" that needs to be avoided--try another one...
