lol that's fine, wasn't sure which color dash you had. Your choice of stereo and cam are good, you'll be happy. Pioneer makes a good product.

    I certainly appreciate any help.

I don't want to spend a bunch but I don't want junk. I can solder and heat shrink if I have a wiring diagram so I should be fine there....I just hate wiring in general.

For a head unit I just wanted double din with buttons so not a full touch (only) screen, CD, USB, iphone/ipod support, bluetooth, back up camera capability (preferably RCA), and pandora/spotify support. Don't care about nav, I already have a good GPS. Also don't care about amps and speakers right now. I'll worry about that if I blow out a stock speaker.

Solder and shrink is the only way to go. When you receive the stereo and Metra harness, everything matches up color for color. No diagram needed. It's impossible to mess up unless you're color blind lol. Here's a harness I made up for mine. Not exactly what you'll be getting into but you get the idea. A new stereo will wake up your stock speakers. You'll be surprised how much better they'll sound. Just keep in mind, they're not new anymore so be easy on them.

When the time comes, there are MANY options out there at all price points. Keep in mind, you'll need adaptors for front and rear since the OEM speakers are molded into plastic pods. Aftermarket speakers are not direct drop in. Adaptors are easy to make if you're handy with a jigsaw and some 3/4" MDF

Unfortunately the only drop in speaker is factory. It's likely someone makes an adaptor to be used with an aftermarket speaker but I always made them myself. I know Taco Tunes makes adaptors but they aren't cheap. Metra may also, I know they do for other applications, I just don't like plastic adaptors.

honestly can't remember if I went with a Metra or Scoshe kit.

for the speakers, I just got some MDF and cut it out with a jigsaw. sanded it smooth, and was good to go.

What's worse than that is going to an O's game and buying a Yankees hat. I should know cause I did it. Not really a baseball fan ,but I've always liked the Yankees hats.

I have a subwoofer made to fit behind the seat of a standard cab Ford Ranger however I think it will fit behind the seat of a Tacoma also. Looks like it to me anyway. $75 for anyone local and of course you're welcome to test fit it first. Let me know!

The factory rear Tacoma speakers are crap in all honesty. Replace them, add some sound deadening, see where that gets you. Keep in mind, rear speakers are for fill. They should not be heard over the front speakers. Music has a front stage only, nothing behind you. What stereo are you running?
