It really won't make much difference at all. Toyota changed the rear sliding window on some trims to a power slider for 2017 from 2016. Toyota doesn't make significant changes from year to year. The 2018 will have the same quirks and issues as the 2017 and 2016 have.

I would wait for 2022. Let Trump ease CAFE standards.

Google "Toyota Safety Sense" and see if this is something you'd like.

    Pretty much this.

If you want one now, and can afford one now then there is no reason to wait.

Drive the truck, see if you like it. If you do give it a shot. If you don't, for gosh sake don't post anything negative on here because you'll be eaten alive.

Don't buy an automatic transmission unless you like a finicky transmission.

I don't think there are too much problems, I think there is too much exposure for the small percentage that are having issues. The new auto trans does seem to be dislike by some, if your looking for an auto, go rent one if possible. If you like manual trans, I think my sport is a blast to drive. I've gone from about 8k miles a year, to averaging a thousand a month now, but didn't switch jobs or any thing.

There were problems reported with Gen 1s and Gen 2s, as well as with Gen 3s.

If you plan on waiting until they release a truck with absolutely no reported issues you'll be waiting quite a while.

Test drive it (extended if you can) and decide if you like it.

If you do like it, immediately stop reading here so you don't develop med student syndrome and over diagnose yourself.

The majority of problems and complaints with the 3rd gen are minor issues a TSB can fix. I do agree
However that toyota needs to focus on quality control again. Every automaker has their problems. The new Colorado is notorious for electrical issues...

I understand the appeal of the Ridgeline for some but that is one ugly crossover. Thats right, I cant call it a truck with a straight face lol

Every new generation of a vehicle has its own quirks and issues. Usually worked out within the first few years. Which the first then get fixed as TSB or even recalls if need be. The 2nd gens, great trucks; some are still affected by the frame recall. If you look at Nissan, some of the R50 Pathfinder 98-04 are still under the strut area recall. Excessive rust, they either repair or buy back the SUV taking off the street.

You could wait another model year to see if some of the quirks are worked out. Or buy into it now. It all comes down to wants vs needs? Do you just want the new truck because its awesome? Or do you NEED a new truck because of work or home needs? If you need a new truck, does it absolutely need to be a new Tacoma? Or would something else suffice? It all comes down to your preference and capabilities.

I didn't care what it was in at that speed, I wouldn't expect it to be in 6th.

Not to sound like a asshole or judgmental, but I don't see the appeal of a Ridgeline unless you have Beta male characteristics... Other wise stick with Tacoma..

JK I don't care what people drive
