hey y'all! thinking about removing my trd sport decal on the bed of my 09 taco
and replacing it with a black one is removing the factory one pretty easy or do i have to worry about anything like faded paint underneath, sticky residue etc?

    Build thread coming soon!
Remove it with a rubber eraser wheel that fits in a drill. Takes decal & residue off in one pass.
You'll see "ghosting" once it's off because the paint underneath is brand new but the rest of the panel will have swirl marks from age

I peeled mine off by hand (did it last summer, waited for hottest part of day) and ended up with the residue...its been a pain to remove the residue but over time it has slowly been removed from washing the truck. lol

If you have access to a steamer, it will take it off and leave no residue. Works great on window tinting as well.
You can find small portable ones on Amazon for a song.

Also great to have for upholstery work.

As already mentioned, Goo Gone. WD-40 works as well. I would avoid using a heat gun. Hair dryer if needed, but sitting in the sun is usually enough. I did my black '05 last summer using my fingernail to grab the edge, and peeled off as a big a piece as I could, I used both Goo Gone, and WD-40. It took maybe 10-15 minutes a side to get the adhesive residue fully off. When I was done, I used rubbing alcohol to clean the Goo Gone, and WD off, and then compounded the general area in and around the sticker, and finished with wax. To my surprise, I had no noticeable difference in paint fade after 11 years. I couldn't tell where the old decal was.
