Ok. So how many of you WITH 3rd Gens have used a pedal commander and what are your opinions? I am only interested to know how the product works with our 3rd Gens since that is what I have.

I'm very interested in the pedal commander to get rid of the throttle lag present, which is something I've experienced with all modern vehicles I've driven. I understand it does not increase horsepower or RPMs so I don't care to get into a he said-she said like in this discussion where they argue whether or not stepping on the throttle does the same thing, it's argued to death. I'm also not interested on whether it's worth the money. I have it to spend so spare me the details of how you would not spend it. Again folks just wanting real life experiences with it on the 3rd Gen.

And so those with it on other vehicles do not feel left out, there's a poll response for you. Be happy you get a say! LOL

From what I've read on here, if you have a manual it's great but mixed reports from auto owners.

It's kind-a like the ECT button. ECT will change throttle response AND change shift points. This thing changes the throttle response, by telling the ECU that you've pressed the accelerator further (and quicker) than you actually did. There is a lot more to it, but basically on the stock truck you may have 1/2 throttle on the accelerator peddle but that doesn't equate to 1/2 throttle on the throttle body, or if you take 1 second to push the pedal from 0 to 100%, that doesn't mean 1 second on the throttle body from 0 to 100%. The ECU will "make up it's own mind" as you how much and how quickly it opens the throttle body. This device will try to trick the ECU into opening the throttle body closer to how you actually pressed the accelerator by telling the ECU you pressed the accelerator quicker than you actually did, of further than you actually did.

It's basically one electronic device trying to fool a different electronic device into working like a simple piece of string or cable

I bought one for my MT TRD sport and it works well. I was planting the gas pedal to keep up with the blue hairs and it was annoying. The pedal commander makes the pedal more linear, 1/4 throttle means means 1?4 and 1/2 means half. Before the pedal did nothing until 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and now it works like my older 2nd gen tacoma. It also seems to speed up the response as well.

I test drove a AT limited before buying my truck and that truck wasn't lethargic like mine so I am not sure how much the AT guys will feel about this unit but for me it fixed my main complaint which was getting the truck up to speed was a chore and I was driving like I owned a 4 cylinder 80's K car. They also offer a TW discount if you do end up buying one.

Hmm, either everyone is busy or no one other than 3 members who voted have the pedal commander. Or maybe no one cares.

I have a TRD 4x4 OR DCSB MT and was wondering how do you install it. I don't like the lag in the lower RPMs that seem too slow of a response from the pedal. Did this take that away? Tks

When I got my 2019 4x4 OR AT the throttle lag was driving me insane. Also it was dangerous. You are trying to get across the road and you floor it and there is a 2 second delay before the truck reacts. I had it back at the dealership a week later and again a month later. The software was up to date and they said it was driving as expected. Unbelievable Toyota could let a vehicle off the line that performed so poorly. Maybe some are worse than other with the delay but mine was terrible. By pumping the gas I could get it to 6000rpm in gear and NOT MOVE AN INCH. I put the pedal commander on and experimented with the different settings. My sweet spot is Sport ‐4
I also saw an improvement in gas mileage of almost 2 mpg. Probably because I'm not putting my foot through the floor every time I'd like my truck to move forward. So, it may not be for everyone but it solved my problem. Loving my Tacoma now

Get it. Pedal commander is legit. Throttle response leaves no gap for lag. I’m more of sport+ 4+.

It doesn't change the shift points, at least mine were not effected. I have the Sprint booster, better warranty, they invented the product, smaller and you can set it and disconnect it. IMO a better product. Love mine and mpg were not effected.
