Where and when will you guys be working? We live in the Renton Highlands. My wife commutes to Seattle (over I-90) and it takes her ~20 minutes to get to work in the morning and ~40 minutes to get home in the afternoon. If she leaves 30 minutes later (morning or afternoon) those times nearly double.

I'd recommend this area. It's not cheap, but nowhere is. Has all the shopping you could need.

Just have to call every time it goes up. Thankfully I have Wave and they aren't bad at all in my area. Seems like every time my parents call their plan has been "discontinued" and a new, faster plan has been out that they didn't get rolled into. Wave just upgrades you to the new plan automatically. Just got to go from a 55mbps plan to a 100mbps for the same price since they got rid of the 55 plan.

Not many people do. It shouldn't be drawing any power when not in use. But a fuse or shutoff is a bit pricy to get one that would work with it (since winches draw high current). If you want something a sort of disconnect would probably be the best bet and cheapest. Something like this
    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007JMTS14?psc=1

Depends where you are stationed. But if its the station downtown you could also look into the Kitsap County side of the water. With the ferry's its a pretty easy commute to downtown. Your money goes a bit further for the house and yard. Well it used to at least

I'll be working at the sector which is downtown. She's currently looking for jobs. How's Puyallup? We have two 60ish lb dogs so we need some space.

This will never happen in Washington. The Seattle Freeze is real. Coming from the Midwest, its definitely noticeable.

Puyallup to the city will be a hellish commute, and the area leaves a lot to be desired. I guess that boils down to how much your time is worth to you. The whole South Hill area is a cesspool, in my opinion. Renton will get you Seattle BAH (considerably more than Puyallup/mo) and the cost of living isn't TOO much higher. Your quality of life (due to lesser commute, and nicer area) will be better as well.

Depending on your rank/income you could perhaps look out toward Issaquah/North Bend as well. Obviously prices are directly correlated with distance from the city. I90 moves pretty quick heading West in the morning until you hit the 90/405 interchange. From there it slows down a bit, but not too bad.

@busmup808 lives in a beautiful neighborhood outside of Puyallup (Graham) but you couldn't pay me enough to make the commute from there to the city.

I'd look at Renton Highlands, Issaquah, North Bend, and Maple Valley.

I live in Graham, too, and I'll second that it's better than Puyallup, though I do spend a lot of time in both places. I would absolutely never make that commute, though. Hellish is an understatement.

North Bend is and has always been top of my list for places I'd love, with Maple Valley and Issaquah not far below. Couldn't go wrong with any of those spots, really.

Depending on his hours the Sounder isn't a bad way to go. Driving wouldn't be a good way to go from Puyallup.

I've heard that this is a thing, but I've never witnessed it firsthand. Maybe that means I'm doing the freezing? :anonymous:

Good luck finding a place in the North bend or Snoqualmie area. Word has it there's a few thousand houses left to build on Snoqualmie ridge and they are all sold. Not even built yet and they're already sold. North bend is blowing up since the building moratorium lapsed but is similar in houses available/presold. Anywhere in King county is fucked for buying a house ATM. It's predominantly a seller's market.

A few houses in my area have sold within the first weekend/open house with offers ABOVE asking price. Rediculous prices too.

Don't bother calling them on the phone, go into an actual Xfinity "store". There's one in Factoria. The person you talk to will actually be able to help you and will have the "authority" to make changes to your account without transferring you around to 4 different people who can't help you.

I've got an itchy trigger finger, and will need to shoot something this weekend. Anyone interested? Not sure where yet. Most likely Sunday.
