I've owned my truck about 6 months. I have replaced all 3 ujoints with Spicer ujoints. I've replaced the center support bearing on the shaft. I've installed the ECGS bushing and now I'm moving on to the front end. My truck is stock and I want to keep the stock height. I live in the mountains but I don't do any off road work. I've read alot of threads about struts for lift so what's the best strut for me without raising the truck. Also, after I first bought the truck I had the shop look over everything under and the guy said it looked like the rear springs had been replaced and he thought that was odd. But I've seen some threads about a recall to replace rear springs. The 1st owner had everything done at the local dealership. So what's the best strut for me and do I want to get the struts with the new spring and what do you think about the rear spring business?

As for the spring TSB, you will get a letter in the mail if you need it. If you want to retain stock height, go with OEM. Find them pretty cheap on here.

Are you looking to just replace them because your OEM ones are worn out, or are you looking to get an upgrade in ride quality? If that's the case, you could get some Icon coilovers and adjust them to stock ride height.

When I first had the truck looked over the mechanic said that they looked like they should be replaced. As far as the springs, could the first owner had them replaced under warranty?

Your best bet then is to just keep an eye out in the classifieds here and buy someones stock suspension that they took off their truck. The third gens stock suspension will also fit, and lift the front of the truck 1", if you wanted that.

sign up on toyotaowners.com and you can see whatever was done at the dealer that the previous owner had done, and you can see if there are any open recalls on your truck.

As far as shock replacement with no lift options look into some Bilstein 4600 HD.. Won't give you a lift but will ride better than stock.

Assuming his is a TRD, those come stock with 4600s.

Ah. Then the stock suspension off of a trd (it's blue and yellow) will be a nice upgrade for you.

I joined Toyota Owners and here is the info on the rear springs. Work was performed on 10/17. I bought the truck on 10/24. I don't want to buy used struts. Can someone give me what the best new struts to buy from the local parts store.

So I’m guessing the 4600 is the same shock as the B6 4600 right? I just bought thats quite a bit beefier looking than the stock ones that came with my 2011 I just looked and compared snd these new ones I just got in the mail are a lot fatter so I’m just trying too mske sure. Thx
