    Howdy,

Just looking for a little experience. Just put on a pelfeybilt hybrid and Smitty winch. The wire cable is rubbing on the bottom of the bumper cutout before it is getting to the rollers on the fairlead. I am thinking I might have to put spacers underneath the winch. Anyone every have his issue?

Haven't seen this issue yet. I think your only option would be to add a spacer. I would personally use a full plate under it to space. I think the winch should be sitting on something solid. I feel like most would just add a circle washer on the bolt but a winch can be under heavy stress and should be mounted on something solid throughout. Just my take on it.

    Hi Sean,
I'm looking a the picture and having a difficult seeing where its rubbing specifically. It appears that its hitting some part of the fairlead rather than a part of the bumper. Correct me if I am wrong.
Typically a hawse fairlead with synthetic rope is used and never an issue. In the case of a roller and wire rope there could be a slightly different alignment.
I'm guessing once you get past the first layer of cable you will be ok, that's where you'll need to be when spooled out anyhow.
Check into that for me if you can, here to help any way I can.
    Thanks

You had me at synthetic rope...now I have an excuse to buy one...lol. I searched and searched and actually couldn't find anyone running wire cable with your bumpers.

The cable is hitting the plate metal before it hits the roller for sure, the powder coating is rubbing off already. Admittedly I haven;t played with it much yet and I plan on experimenting more later today..

I think the ultimate solution is to switch to synthetic. I am thinking the rope will compress a bit and not take up as much room on the spool as the wire cable. Either way, I will get back to you. You guys have great customer service, so I am imagining you will want to know about this if it is an issue and how to fix it.

OK, I am a total idiot! In looking at the situation, I noticed that the smittybilt fairlead had a second set of holes for the bolts. I flipped the fairlead upside down and put the bolts through those holes and now it works like a charm! It pulls the roller up just enough to keep the cable off of the metal bumper. The simplest is usually the right one lmao!

Indeed. I have done dumber things lol. Like the time I cut both of my CB wires to the battery, BEFORE I unhooked the battery. Poof smoke and instant fire. Nice, so nice.
