I just downsized to my first Tacoma, I'm pretty pumped, from a f-250 that I had up 6in and ran 35's. Needless to say I filled out parking spaces but my truck sat high enough that I never had to worry about parking lot dents cause my running boards would catch doors before they hit my truck. Now I have the opposite problem. I can't find any running boards that stick out far enough to protect the body of my truck (anyone know of any?) or are rock sliders my only option?

I'm also open to brand suggestions for either too...

Your problem (well mine problem in TX) is every mall crawler lifts their truck to the moon usually with shitty suspension, so unless you're going to get sliders that are 1/2 way up your door, you'll get door dings. Hell just put the same height Tacoma next to yours, you will get a door ding no matter how far out your running boards stick out.

But sliders will usually offer less door ding protection that running boards, since running boards usually stick out further.

A lil this a lil that.
I got Allpro Apex and the jury is still out on them. They're supposed to be bolt one, but I don't feel comfortable with the feel so I'm going to get them burned in. They do have a kickout towards the rear.

I'm digging my AllPro Apex Sliders with kickouts. They're bolt on and very strong and they totally protect against door dings. I powder coated mine with a textured factory Toyota finish.

I ordered a set of All-pro apex bolt ons last week, free shiping made it a great deal.

Rock sliders will offer more protection because most of them come out and upward about 15°. Plus they're just plain more cool!
