my tach shows im at 3000 rpm when running 60mph. I felt this was a little high considering my coworker has the same truck that runs 2000 at 60 mph. I have an obdII scanner that also displays real time data. it shows that when at 60mph that i am in fact right at 2k rpm however the tach still shows 3k. its nothing alarming and nor is it upsetting i was just wondering if there is any way to make the tach read more accurate? an easy way that is.

I know on some american vehicles you can put the instrument cluster in a "re-calibration mode" for it to check everything. I've seen some speedometers pointing strait down when not moving and then as you speed up it goes up to 0 and hits the pin. The "re-cal" ends up making all the gauges go all the way to the right and left which puts the speedo back on-top of the pin. Maybe a re-cal would fix the tach being off?:crapstorm:
Can't say I've heard of the factory Tach being fast??

    3. INSPECT TACHOMETER (ON–VEHICLE)

    (a) Connect a tune–up test tachometer, and start the engine.

    NOTICE:

Reversing the connection of the tachometer will damage

    the transistors and diodes inside.

When removing or installing the tachometer, be careful

not to drop or subject it to heavy shocks.

    (b) Compare the tester and tachometer indications.

    DC 13.5 V 20°C at (68°F)

Standard indication (rpm) Allowable range (rpm)

    700 630 – 770

    3,000 2,850 – 3,150

    5,000 4,850 – 5,150

    7,000 6,790 – 7,210

If error is excessive, replace the tachometer.
