I currently have tire size 265/70/16 (which is stock). I am planning to put on 265/75/16. Do I need to get an alignment done for this?

In general, is it always good to get an alignment when getting new tires?

    Thanks

    i wouldn't bother if it's just tires.

Changing only tires doesn't require an alignment as the suspension doesn't change. Is it good practice to get one, just in case it got bumped out of place, thats up to you.

if you don't know when an alignment was done last, imo i would just go get one. firestone has a lifetime alignment service for 179.99, which pays for itself once you get an alignment twice, which is what i have. Now anytime i do a suspension modification again, i can simply stroll down there and not have to dread another $80 alignment fee.

Your new tires have a slightly taller sidewall and are not so different from the old ones to require an alignment. All the geometry will be the same if you are using the same wheels.

It is a good idea to get an alignment periodically or at least have the numbers checked. Many tire shops also do alignments so this could be an ideal time for a check.

I tend to keep my vehicles for a long time so I purchase the Firestone lifetime alignment service that Whitetrash mentions above. Since the local Firestone is within easy walking/bicycling distance, it's kind of a no-brainer for me.

Firestone lifetime alignment is definitely worth if you're gonna do any type of wheeling. I paid $180 and it paid for itself after my 2nd alignment.
