$4400??? I understand that CDN but still. I paid $700 for a similar Leer cap off CL a few weeks ago and it was $1700 new. Is the Canadian dollar THAT strong??

My ARE cap was around $4000.00 Canadian. I wanted the cap for my dog, I prefer the look without it but function is more important to me.

Yeah thats the problem for mine, it leaks whenever theres the slightest rain fall. Ive had to keep most of my tools and material in rubbermaid containers which worked for a while but then I found water pooled in the bottom of the containers which rusted even more tools and caused even more problems. How hard is taking the cap off? I assume its too bulky/heavy for one person to hulk off of the bed.

Someone recommended using 3/4 Sika Backer Rod in another thread for sealing the edges, seems like it would work as its compressible/non absorbent and everything

If thats the case it sounds like whoever put the roof rack track on didn't seal the bolt holes cause water coming in at the edges wouldn't be able to get into the containers unless the bottoms were holy, but then the water would run back out.
I would get inside and close it up tight the next time it rains or have someone spray the top with a hose to see where its leaking and plan from there.

    IMG_0508.jpg IMG_0507.jpg OK I'm similar boat.
    I have a cap. I don't use really because I dirtbike.
I've had it for sale on craigslist I haven't got any offers over 500.

It needs rear shocks. Which on Amazon they're anywhere from $20-$45.
And the right side locking hook could get replaced. Another 20 some bucks
I may just try to store it at work

I feel like for anything under 600 I should keep it

Any interest out there. I'd rather sell it to a member who appreciates the Tacoma.

I like the look of a truck without a cap. But when it comes to convenience , nothing beats it.

Also, there is a member on here who made a pulley system in his garage to raise and lower the cap at the flick of a wrist. May be worth looking into.

Comes down to how you use it, I thought id never use a cap but after having one I prefer it on all my trucks. Keeps gear locked up and safe for me (snowboards, surfing, riding gear), I haul the dirt bike on a hitch hauler. Dirty dogs go in the shell after a lake or beach day, great for moving, and camping. Keep tools safe/dry and you can sleep back there. To seal it better you may need to raise it off and redo the gasket (cheap at an rv store).

btw the cap looks better on the truck after a lift and wheels imo but thats personal preference. Sounds like a tonneau would get the job done for you too so ultimately up to you. I like having a shell personally, big plus for me is being able to camp in there
