There was nothing in the bed to steal. They didn't touch the cab. They must have ben on a mission for a MGM tailgate since I have 2 neighbors with white 3rd gens that still have their tailgates.

They probably have a MGM or has a friend who has one.
Do your neighbours keep their tailgates locked?

LOL. Tell them next time they can just unhook the wiring harness instead of yanking it off.

For what he told me. Those guys are collecting the tailgates, spare tires and side mirrors around northern Maine, small towns and use u haul truck transport them to different states. This is kinda like organized stuffs they do.

Not sure if that method would work on the 3rd gens, with that tailgate assist function.

Fwiw, my salesman made a point of noting I should always keep the tailgate locked, that a lot of them were being stolen. This was at the Chula Vista CA dealership, not too far from the border.

I have already posted that a Pop'nLock PL8535 for Tundras also works on our Tacomas. The beauty about this is every time your car's locked your tailgate is locked. If you haven't already bought wheel locks that probably needs to be your next purchase along with a locking gas cap. It takes me so mad that Toyota did not put a locking fuel door on these trucks. So after much trial and error and making many phone calls I finally found a locking gas cap that will work on the 3rd gen Tacoma and NOT trip your check engine light. Stant makes a locking gas cap.....10504. you can also buy this at Advance Auto Parts sold under the car quest line it is the same number 10504.

It works on the Tacoma too? Do you have the how-to-build thread?
