OME lift too much rake?

Just installed a full OME on my '16 sport. 887 coils, Dakars, and 90021 shocks. It seems everyone else with this combination results in a level stance.

My measurements, from floor to fender, are ~38.5" front and ~41" rear.

I know the leafs may settle a bit but seems like a stretch to drop level. I know some are removing a leaf from the Dakar, but I would rather level the front up. While it's not 'ideal', could a 1" spacer be added up front to help level?

I think you should take it from a top down angle. Maybe go buy a quadcopter with a camera to take the shot. It might be the only way to get a worse angle than this picture.

How many leaves do you have in? I think you're supposed to remove one with stock loads.

Tons of people remove a leaf from the Dakar packs

While they wont 'settle' much, they will a little bit.

 

Don't raise the front. Lower the rear.

 

If you plan on towing or adding a bed rack or any weight back there I would just leave it

 

Which leaf would need to be removed? There are 7 total

 

I think they remove the top overload leaf, IIRC.

Somebody with more experience will chime in, Im sure.

I just left my Dakars alone when I installed them.

 

I'd leave it alone. Especially for when you put things in the bed. It'll come down a bit, and the ride will be as smooth as butter.

Also, drivers in front of you at night will thank you.

 

I think it looks great the way it is. If anything, I would lower the rear than lifting the front. What size tires are you running?

I would leave it, looks good, plus when you go camping and put stuff in the bed you won't have the dreaded bro lean.

 

Heres some info I received from Marie at HeadStrong Off-Road regarding the Dakars and removing leafs to change height in the rear:
"If the overall rear height is too much for you or the ride seems too stiff you can remove the 3rd leaf. Doing so will decrease the spring rate by 15% and the overall height by 15mm. You can also remove the long overload and that will decrease the lift height by ½” but not affect the spring rate."

So you can lower and soften or just lower the rear some to get closer to level but you would likely still have some rake just not as much.

I have been thinking of removing one myself but until I get my bed rack and RTT on along with camping gear in the bed I dont see a point since I dont know how that weight will affect the ride. I dont mind it being a little stiff around town as long as it rides well when I'm out with all my gear. I should know more over the next month or so as to whether or not I want to remove a leaf or not.

I'm about to install the same components accept for 5100's and this is music to my ears. It's the exact way I want mine to be. I hate anything that even resembles a reverse rake at any angle. Plus I carry a ladder with a rack and will tow during the summer. I think this looks great! BTW, it there a spacer on the driver side for taco lean?
