Does anyone else get a burned clutch odour in 4x4 reverse?

My truck is a year and a half old and has had that issue since day one.

Dealership and service centre says they've never heard of such a thing and could find nothing wrong.

Personally I've never heard of this. Is the truck a manual? I'd so it could be the clutch slipping.

    Yeah, it's manual .

Happened yesterday too in two wheel drive on a steep wet hill when I had to ride the clutch a bit to start slowly so as to not slip on the wet pavement. My BFG KO2 tires are great in the bush, but the hard rubber compound is not great on slick city streets.

Yea my truck seems like it has a really high reverse gear probably just burning the clutch alot if you back up steep hills, have big tires, or alot of weight in the truck

If your backing up on a steep hill, then yes you might be burning the clutch a bit. When I first got my truck, now almost 2 yrs old, for a brief period while I was getting use to its sweet spot and its shift points, I would have the smell of the clutch come into the cab. Now at 50,000km and no issues or smell. Agreed the reverse is a really high gear, I wish it was lower. If reversing for a long ways, try to get off the clutch as soon as you can, if possible. Sometimes you'll have to ride the clutch though, even my other friends who have driven stick lots comment on how high the reverse gear is

A side note too mention too however, whenever you engage the transfer case, the front drive shaft will start to spin and if the dealership has done its job right, or if you've done it yourself. The grease from greasing the front driveshaft will get flung onto the exhaust and stink while its being burnt off
