    Greetings,

I decided a few weeks back to travel out west again. It really calls to you..

The purpose of the trip is to challenge my self with colder weather camping (anything colder than GA) and longer distance driving. I have done multiple hiking trips around the same temps every time so I wanted to change it up. As for the driving, I drive everyday for work(brown package truck). I enjoy driving a lot and really do not see it stopping. So I decided to challenge my sanity by driving the whole trip without the radio/music, no social media only calling the wife to check up, and completing the trip in less than a week. Just me and the truck.

I have mapped out the trip and looks to be around 4000+ miles. Leaving Saturday morning around getting back the next Friday. Yes, it does seem stressed for time, but that is what I like. I like to keep moving. I am still deciding if I would like to stay in Canyonlands for two days or the Tetons.

Of course I will post pictures and the trip journal when I get back. I am really excited and any information or opinions on the areas are greatly appreciated!

    Sil

The trip ended up being ~4500 miles. Started Saturday at six in the morning ended Friday at eleven in the morning.

Here are some of the pictures all taken with phone. I will load camera pictures after I sort them.

Thank you! I did not. Traffic heading to Arches already looked thick heading up to the park. Canyonlands always seemed to have less people and still great photo spots. I will probably go to Arches during the off season and into Canyonlands WRR when I have proper gear for the truck.

Nice photos! When you say Canyonlands, I am guessing Islands in the Sky? From Denver, Moab is about 5.5-6 hours. Utah is a long way from Georgia!

Thank you! That is correct. For me it was 26 hrs to Moab. Then around 8.5 to the Tetons. The trip was well worth it.

We will be planning another trip out to AZ this year the first two weeks in Aug. I cannot wait for the trip.

nice work - Yes the desert changes you. Heading to Escalante area in 2 weeks! Try the White Rim trail next time you are in Islands in the Sky, aprox 100 miles of mild off road dirt with amazing views. Attached photo is from the Needles District which is my favorite of the 3 districts.

I would like to do all the trails. On the trip, I went solo the whole time so the trails would have been a risk. I do know what to do, but did not want to deal with it that far away.

Escalate looks like a beautiful area. I thought about stoping there if the Tetons were a no go. You will have to take pics.

I would like to move out west to be closer everything, but that will be some time from now.

I'm originally from Georgia. You could do the White Rim trail solo. It's been a long time since I did it, but it's pretty tame for a stock Tacoma. I used to see Subaru's down there until they got to a dry creek crossing that stopped them. The parks out here are way bigger than most people realize. Even Arches would take a week to fully explore. If you need any info before the next trip, feel free to PM.

Good to know. Where in Georgia are you from?

I will PM the next time I head out there and the Colorado area.

    Thanks!

Looks great! I did see the pics on the other thread. Those pics look great too. Do you have any more places you are going to travel too this year?

I will be heading out to AZ in August. I cannot wait for the trip. I will be doing more hiking and will not be taking the truck, but taking the crosstrek instead.

I will not be buying truck modifications this year. Instead I will be looking for a new camera and lens. So I will not always use the wife's.
