    Some help,

This is my first truck and i am looking to put a lift on it! I was looking to add a 3" lift from rough country.. my question is do i need to replace my rear shocks! I have notice that some people have 3" lifts and still leave stock on the back! I have 3rd generation off road.. can i get some help or suggestions?

@HeadStrong Off-Road Don't buy a rough country lift, they're junk. Talk to marie at headstrong off road she can answer your questions.

My suggestion for the lift you should go with for 3 inches of lift:
Front: Bilstein 5100 adjustable front shocks, paired with old man emu 887 coils or old man emu 885 coils your choice.
Rear: Stock leaf pack with an add-a-leaf with regular length bilstein 5100's

Also do your research. There are a ton of threads on here explaining things. I'll post link to threads in a second.

If you know how to send a private message on this site send them a message. I can't find the thread that describes in detail everything you need to know about lifting a tacoma but its on here somewhere. Try google searching "everything you need to know about lifting a tacoma tacoma world".

I've had my rough county for over 2 years now. It's been just fine. Granted I haven't been off roading except for the occasional hunting trip or two. I've heard terrible reviews but coming from someone who has the 3" set up currently, I've had zero issues thus far!

There are may other options out there!

5100s ride pretty rough from my experience on past trucks...unless you're on a budget you could get better.

2nd Gn little diffrent from 3rd Gn in regards to 3" lifts. Because the 3Gn's come with a 1" lift from the factory 2" is all that needed to be equal to a 2Gn with a 3" lift. Putting a 3"lift on a 3Gn could cause some issues. $.02

What about tuff country's 4 inch lift? Fairly affordable, comes with control arms and extended rear shocks for about 750 out the door.

They only ride rough if you pre load the shit out of them with stock coils, I'm running 887's and my experience is very far from yours??

6112s are night and day improvement over my past experience with the 5100s.... just my experience in comparing the two

If you don't mind my asking, were you running stock coils with the 5100's? and what did you have them set at if so?
