Not sure if I'm posting this right, buuuut someone done turned into my taco. The boys at the tacoma sub on Reddit mentioned something about diminishing value. Any insight on that matter?

Not a lawyer but I looked into this when someone pulled out and hit my mercedes. You have to get it fixed first, then bring the repair bill to a dealer and see how much they would reduce the value if you traded it in to them. Then your lawyer can take action after that.

Get it repaired which I'm assuming insurance is taking care of. When you go to trade it in 10 years from now the dealer won't give you any less than if it wasn't in the accident.

You're not gonna come out ahead after you hire a lawyer and waste your time.

Get it fixed, move on, and enjoy your truck.

Don't expect much, my 3 month old Subaru WRX was rear ended, $6800 worth of damage and I only got $1500 diminished value after fighting with them about it.

You may have actually *increased* the value of that 3rd Gen. Check with the experts over at Tinder.

    Build thread coming soon!
Diminished value is generally only a concern on a much bigger hit than what that appears to be. Like, if you got rear-ended on the freeway and the truck ended up with a $20,000 repair...
For that little claim, it's not going to matter much in the grand scheme of things. Not sure about USA, but in Canada dealers generally have a $5000 limit for any accidents that come up on a Carproof that would tip the vehicle away from being eligible for "certified used" status

And, as mentioned, if you're going to keep the truck for a long time it doesn't matter. If you like to trade up every year or two then you might get docked but it shouldn't be much

Depends on the state you're in. After I got rear-ended last year, I told the responsible parties insurance company I would like to pursue a diminished value claim. They came back with a check.
