so its a done deal, I've made up my mind,
I've been living in fear of carwashes, my taco has been dirty for more days than I'd like to admit, I've turned away some off roading trips for fear of dust, dirt, mud, branches and rocks that may lead to a car wash or polish, I've spent countless hours hand washing my baby with cloth made of baby bunnies and rinsing with fiji water...
    Life had lost its meaning...
    Then...
After a long 13 hour carwash I looked at my perfect reflection on the scratched side panel of the bed and asked myself...
is this really the life I want?

    NO! the answer is NO!
F--- the scratches, f--- had washing!

I'm going to drive through car washes now and I'm going off roading whenever I please
    ...
    ...
    ...

Life is better now, I'm getting married, having kids, and who knows... maybe one day I'll forget about the first few weeks of terror... I'll wash it (in a drive through) polish it and whatever is left, will be battle scars, nothing more than fond memories of the good old days

My first taco was black. That's the last black vehicle I'll own. My last car was white, also the last white vehicle I'll own. They sure did look purdy when I washed them though. My truck is silver now. I can tell when it's dirty, but others can't. Life is good! :mudding:

Mine is black, stays dirty more often than not and I don't care. I used to keep my trucks clean too. Now I have better things to do than worrying about keeping a vehicle clean. It's a truck and I use it.

You might consider putting one of the new nano coat sealants on your truck. Makes it much easier to wash and care for after.

    LOL
I know exactly how you feel
When it was 3 weeks old
Had to let someone else drive it then I noticed damage a few days later
Really want to thank them but I'm afraid they'll think I'm being a dick trying to make them feel bad
But seriously I am sooo glad it happened.
Now I don't get all stressed about a little dirt, bug juice, tiny scratches or water spots.
Still won't take it through a drive through car wash though although I have since used the brush at the do it yourself hand car wash maybe I need to scratch it up a little more by myself or attend some sort of black truck owners therapy session

I voted for walk backwards until you're inside. Speaking of which have you ever ran backwards through a cornfield naked? Reminded me of prison.

13 hrs? I washed, sealed, and waxed my OR in under 2 hours yesterday afternoon. It's actually quite relaxing for me. I grab a few beers, have my music in the garage, and enjoy the time with my truck.

I have owned two black vehicles out of over 30 new vehicles over the years. They were both beautiful when they were new. The only reason I bought a second one was to make sure owning a black vehicle was as painful as I remembered. It was. Now I am happy in my Quicksand Taco and all of my other car purchases are as close to the color of dirt as possible. Life is so much better now.

Were you blind when bought it? Can you distinguish colors? Why in the name of all bad and ugly would you buy a black truck/car?
Pray it gets stolen, sell it or trade it and get a quicksand or inferno or silver one. Stay the hell away from dark colored trucks if you want to use them.

I like to preserve my truck's finish with a protective layer of dirt.
