Bought the throw out bearing and got about 15k miles in two years. Bearing started squealing. Cost me $600 to fix. Save your time and money and don't buy. URD wouldn't give me my money back worst $245 spent because all in all it cost me $800 after replacing it. Would have been nice for URD to step up and own this piece of junk and give me my cash back. Buyer beware. You have been warned.

So what would you do as an alternative? Just take it to Toyota and have them fix it like they would normally do?

What do you think of the new u-fix Hydro conversion kit? I've been researching and it looks like it might be a good fix

A big concern with purchasing aftermarket parts is that Toyota and all smart garages won't warranty the parts or the labor to install it for you. I have been running into this issue in my research, including today while sitting at the Toyota dealer as they look into this.

Another concern we have come to not like is that if you want the Hydro Kit, you need the compatible URD clutch kit. And if you are going to get both of those, you might as well get the combo "deal" with the lightweight flywheel. However, that lightweight flywheel is not designed for creating/maintaining torque in your off-road vehicle, but instead designed for acceleration and speed in the faster 2 Wheel Drive XRunner. It would be nice if URD had the option for a stock spec flywheel in that combo, as well as stock spec clutch... and/or allow the same "deal" prices for just the Hydro Kit & Clutch and have the original Toyota flywheel resurfaced. Life would be grand and there would be a million customers standing in line.

To my understanding URD/PDM previously used a cheap Chinese bearing. Since then they updated to a "oem toyota" bearing.

Just installed and added additional pre-load per Hladun's repair - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/fix-for-squeaking-clutch.272427/

I think its the only option. If this doesn't work I'll install the U-fix hydro kit when I need a new clutch

We tried preloading the stock bearing to keep it in contact with the pressure plate. The bearing was not designed to spin all the time and we found they burned up and failed in a short time.

So I guess not much of a fix but it could help at a stoplight to let out the clutch pedal in neutral rather than holding it in the entire time?

I think the real problem is the quill is aluminum and the bearing metal. They would have probably used plastic if they thought they could...
Also your T56 conversion isn't an option for the 4x4 trucks right?

There have been some people that have done a 4x4 conversion. You will need a transfer case for the T56 and may have to modify the cross member, but really do not know.

Holding the pedal down is when the noise that people complain about goes away. It is when the pedal is up when the intermittent contact occurs and presents as a squeak.

Yeah but I meant as prevention before it gets to that point where it squeaks

I realize this is an old thread but I'm wondering what's better..oem or the urd sleeve repair kit?
    I bought a 13 tacoma 4x4 v6 6sp.
Went to change the clutch and ran into a lot of problems, mainly because I didn't know they put this sleeve repair kit on...
I currently have my trans at a shop to be rebuilt.... but I'm wondering if anybody has done the urd upgrade and then went back to oem? Whats the better choice?
The reason I decided to do the clutch was the chirp... I was unaware of these design flaws

Bump again on this thread--my clutch is starting to chirp and trying to get my ducks in a row. What's the consensus?
    1. URD vs OEM?
    2. Do the clutch at the same time? Clutch seems fine at 95k on a 2015 4x4 6 speed manual.
    thanks all!
