Yep, thanks, respectful email made up. Been driving Toyota since my first rig, an '83 pick up, Loyalty may help too.
Although apparently 90% of the population drive the shit out of their cars and have to replace them every 4-6 years, for those who take care of their Vehicles and are able to continue driving them for many years, it's great to have these forums to discuss issues, get advice on what to look for and How Toos when they apply.

This thread has me all nervous about my 2006 DCSB I just bought. Driving it watching the temp gauge like a hawk!

Usually it doesn't fail outright, it'll start stumbling on cold startups and slowly lose coolant. It most likely won't just all the sudden fail.

well i guess no use in worrying about something I cannot control. Anyone know exactly when the 2006 switched to a different head gasket?

A number of people say it was mid build year for the '06. And that the '05 and early '06, as well as '04-06' Runners, most claim have failed around the 120-145,000 mile mark.

It's Something to watch for,-(especially white vapour in the exhaust, mine would only blow for a minute then disappear, I caught it early)- but not to Worry about.

It's kinda like being on a plane with a hundred other people, only a few will be called up to get off because it's overbooked and only a very few will have their faces smashed in when they come to drag you off.

Enjoy your truck and don't be nervous. If it does go, you have others to back up your claim that you're not the only one.

    Very current analogy!

I'm really curious to see the outcome of you contacting Toyota.

Like you I've only ever owned Toyota trucks and am a loyal customer. Now that I'm in my "new" 2006 I am in tune to every little noise I hear.

I'll just keep an eye on temp gauge, coolant levels, smoke, and oil color.

I'm at 108K miles and the thing runs like a dream. I hope yours is running nice now as well.

She made it home from the shop for starters, new Serp belt and water pump, purring like a kitten, growling like a lion (aftermarket exhaust), no burning coolant stink or white clouds out the pipe.
I'll update if the Corp responds to my email.

My 2006 has a manufacture date of 11/05... should I be worried?

I'm also looking for the "hard data" that doesn't seem to exist. I have a manufacture date of 3/2006.

We already own our trucks. I guess all we can do is take care of them as best we can and hope for the best.

You can worry if you want, it won't help anything.
