My thought on the AFE is this: if the stock airbox pulls enough air to run 8-10 pounds of boost with the URD supercharger:

then it definitely pulls enough for naturally aspirated duties as well.

I did switch to an AFE dry panel filter in my stock box, and I feel that's probably the best cost/benefit breakdown.

I don't think there's much power left on the table anywhere else without a tune, and that seems pretty stupendously unlikely. Or going forced induction, but then you're opening a can of expensive worms.

That's a clean engine bay. Also, wow.. you did a serious number on the truck. Looks great man.
By the way, there was a TW user here who did mention that our Taco's can be performance tuned. There's a certain company that reprograms the ECU. Here's that post
(Corey, don't do it. Nothing to see here.)

Not my engine bay, just an example of a supercharged Tacoma running the stock airbox to illustrate my point.;)

The Orange Virus Tuning looks pretty damn cool but currently my Taco is my DD and my sole method of transport so I can't really send my ECU out for a bench tune. Once they have the handheld flashers available I'll look into it.

My tuning philosophy when it comes to trucks is often at odds with what a lot of people want to do. I'm not seeking a super high peak number, I'm seeking gains that aren't at the cost of compromising utility. Usually this is just by adjusting factory parameters from "over-conservative" to just "conservative." I want to keep it running regular, keep it very much safe and happy to run it's full 2TR lifespan, but just pull a little extra out here and there. Stock is 160/180 hp/tq, LCE header pulls that up to about 175/200, "supposedly" an OV Tune gains you 10-16% which would work out to somewhere between 192/220 to 203/232. I'd be more than happy with those numbers but I'm a little iffy about running 91. Let's say sticking with 87 only gets you 5%, that would land you at 184/210, which I would still be thrilled with.

I'm not shooting for the moon, I'm shooting for reliable miles from here to there.:p

I think after reading that I have decided just now to choose your philosophy too. On my v6, I sometimes feel I already am driving too fast, that's mostly because I am always running late, and rushing last minute to everything in my life. I don't need any more speed or power.
