I recently bought my Tacoma and the first thing I had to do was replace the brake pads. I also replaced the rotors(aftermarket) and calipers. I used good Wagner ceramic pads. What I got was squeaks. Sounds like bird chirps and mostly just when driving at first, but eventually did it while breaking too. I've replaced the pads twice and rotors once since but chirping keeps coming back. Cheap rotors maybe? Non Toyota pads?

Did you use a quieting compound like "CRC Brake Quiet"? Permatex makes a similar product--I use one or the other (got 'em both on the shelf, one can lasts for years) every time I install new pads on anything. Degrease the back of the pads and pistons/pad supports with a brake cleaner (Walmart's house brand is as good as any, and just $2) then apply a couple coats of brake quiet to the back of the pads. I also use a single coat in between the pad and any shims it might have...

Did you bed the new pads in when you replaced them?

Each time I cleaned everything with brake cleaner, used an ample amount of brake grease and bedded them in. The second set of pads I used CRC brake quiet. I even let my mechanic neighbor do the job last time to make sure I wasn't missing something. Still chirping.

By bedding them in I mean getting them hot,
when you use ceramic pads, the first ride is to get them hot like drive 5 miles with one foot on the brake.

I drove to 40mph and hit the brakes firmly, like a fast stop, until I was at 10mph and did this 3 times.

Yea that's not enough to even get them warm.

Yeah, I just went back and read the article again. Definitely not hot enough. I do believe I'll go back to non ceramic pads though.
