Hey guys I'm new to this forum and need some help. I bought a 2009 Sport this last year and the truck rides stiffer than normal for a Tacoma. When I'm driving down the road the front end feels kinda like it floats and any bump or groove you can feel it pull the steering wheel. Also when you're going around a corner turning it's almost like the truck tires aren't grabbing the road to turn. Steering is nice and tight though on it. It has a Pro Comp drop bracket lift on it. I'm not sure if it is 4 or 6. It has the equivalent of a 34 inch tire on it and that's the max size you could go without rubbing. The tires are the Nitto trail grapplers. It has Pro comp adjustable coil overs on it. It looks like to me the coils are maxed out. Could that possibly be the problem? If I back it off an inch would that help it? I love the truck but I gotta figure out why it's like this. It's kinda scary to drive fast really. I posted a pic of the truck and the coils. I backed the one locking one off in the picture and was trying to turn the collar of the other with a spanner wrench but apparently I have to take the whole assembly off and compress the springs to adjust it but I wanna verify it in on here. Thanks guys for any help!

I would think that going with a longer spring and getting rid of all that preload would make it ride a bit better. But, since I haven't ever messed with that type of lift, I will leave it to the pros to chime in for sure. So, bump and welcome to TW.

Those are adjusted so damn far down.
What @windsor said. Longer spring to get rid of that much preload will make it ride smoother.

Thanks guys. That's what I was thinking as well. The spring is way too pre loaded but I don't know much about suspension systems. On those coil overs is there a secret to adjusting them. I loosened the top locking collar and tried to turn the other one but it wouldn't budge. I had the truck jacked up in the air to take tension off. I was told I need to compress the springs before it will loosen. I've also heard there is an Allen screw that locks it into place and to loosen that but I don't see one anywhere unless it's hidden on the back side. That's why I figured I'm gonna have to take the assembly apart. Looks pretty easy. Four bolts and it should all just come out I think.

Looking at a few other posts, looks like it should indeed have an allen head set screw on the collar. From what I've read, you will not get the best ride out of the DB lift, but I think that you can improve it with different springs.
