Man... This taking a vacation day and doing stuff around the house is too much for me. I only made it to early afternoon... Moving just shy of 2 cord of wood this morning did me in. Tomorrow, back to work so I can take it easy!

    Spot on Mike.
A friend just had the ball joint in her hip replaced at 50.
I've had work done to me in recent years.
Screw pain and being crippled up.

My wife was having hip problems, the first doctor hardly even looked, was dismissive and told us "there's nothing I can do for you". She went back to the referring Dr. asked about getting a second opinion. Second Dr. did a thorough exam scheduled a surgery and found damage in the joint. Point is second opinions are a option if your not happy or comfortable with the first one.

I've had 4 instances where the dr said nothing they could do.
So I had infections etc and got meds for it. IT CLEANED UP MY OTHER PROBLEMS.
    They don't know it all....

I agree with the stipulation get a second opinion if nothing else but for a check. They wanted to replace my knee instead of reconstructing it. However, I am bow legged from the knees down the Dr and the people who make the knee joint felt if I did it then with my activity level ie WORK lol I would wear it out in 5 years. They were/ are afraid there will not be enough bone left to change the joint out do to the acute angle they well will have to make the knee joint. Of Course this was in 1998 they have not said anything about a new install yet but are taking measurements every year .

Evening kids, all this talk of joint replacement I feel much better now. I use to take pain meds, Motrin, Alevee. Doc told me to be careful, hard on the liver, stomach. Haven't taken much in 2 years, just kinda tough it out. I'm sure down the road I will have to do something, but for now I to avoid pain induced activities. No more sking, ice hockey ,softball. The joys of aging.

The question is "How old is old enough?" 68 1/2 and still active. I still scuba dive, hike and ride a bike(only power is me). I have a torn meniscus, ACL damage, arty- ritus and bone on bone in spots in the right knee, but still mobile after the shots. Hope to get at least another 4 years out of the shots :D.

Me thinks that's why they call it "Practicing Medicine". Could you imagine if you told a customer you were a practicing technician Mike:crapstorm:

Doctor told me that after 40 stay off your knees . Asked him if I can't kneel, how can I ask the missus for forgiveness after I totally piss her off and he said don't piss her off. I told him "You don't know my wife". Seriously, he said kneeling is really bad and hard on the knees. I did a lot of kneeling on the job and I am paying for it now.
