I went with the AVS bug deflector and I'm happy with the look. I'm just hoping that it actually helps deflecting the summer-time bugs and tiny rocks on the highway.

    It won't.

Nothing will short of leaving the truck in your garage.

    Been there, done that.

I guess it's the feel-good thing then. I'm not too mad. It will at least prevent any more rock chips on that particular portion of the hood (mine is riddled with them).

    It looks good IMHO.

If you're going to go with AVS, I recommend picking up some different fasteners from AutoZone. The ones they send with the product are garbage.

I've had the AVS on since new, been holding fine for 13 years.

that being said I still get bugs on the highway and I have 3 stone chips in my windshield. Although the chips have been there for 10+ years so I'm not worried.

The quickest way to get a new stone chip in your windshield is to install a new windshield or to drive in Colorado. :D

Exactly! The person I purchased this truck from had a new windshield installed about a week before I took it. Before I could even get plates on the thing... two rock chips in the windshield.
