Yeah, I agree... I think I do have a problem....
Do you have a nice trailer that I can have for free..?? That would solve my problem, I think..

    DCLBs are useless.

The extra weight eats in to your GVWR and your carrying capacity.

    Less maneuverable.

    Looks stupid.

Seriously, why is it even made?

If anything they should keep the goofy long wheel base, stick the short bed on it and a bigger cab! Call it the grande edition!

    Like, so many.
My last truck was a LB and it's definitely better for hauling, no question. But I've always preferred the look of the SB and it's certainly easier in a parking lot.

I agree with your point. Make something in between and forget about it. I have only bought long beds because I think it looks better and it meets my needs better. There is no flow from a design standpoint on the short bed. It just looks like a chopped off bed. But, one in between would flow better, work well enough off-road, and offer likely enough utility for most. Some of the fullsize short beds are about 5'8" and that would be a nice compromise. I considered the short bed with bed extender and think that would have worked too but I prefer the look of the long bed. A "tweener" would give the look I like and the function. Maybe some day...

In the end I say buy what you need and want.

Had a 2014 AC (long bed), girlfriend wasn't happy sitting in the passenger seat with her knees touching the dash and in a completely vertical sitting position, due to rear facing child seat behind her (newborn last May). Traded it in for a 2017 in January. Double cab and manual transmission were my must haves = only option in Canada, TRD DCSB Sport. I miss the longer bed. I haul lumber on occasion and the longer bed really made a difference.

:muscleflexing::devil:I bet former Jeep owners buy the short box Tacoma because a box is a new thing and need more storage . I bet full size truck owners going to a Tacoma look at the short box and smile and say how cute . Then buy a long box.

Wish I had a LB option with a manual. But I wanted a manual more than a LB.

I looked at a double cab long bed, and realized the trouble parking is in a tight driveway. Ended up going with a access cab long bed because I will never be sitting in the back seat of my own truck, so I don't care how much space there is in the backseat. but the long bed offered with the access cab leaves more space since i upgraded from a full size truck. still can be used as a daily driver for parking situations, and can be a work truck. this image is a good source.

IMO, I think SB is better for the look and overall Off-road capability. I don't have drive way, so SB also my only option for my garage..... sad story in California...

Or you could have bought her a little Camry or Sienna just for her.

The double cab short bed fits in my 19 foot long garage with about a foot to spare (213.3 inches). A double cab long bed may have just fit (225.5 inches) but I would have to 'kiss' the back wall with the nose of the truck.
For me the double cab short bed was a no brainer. I do like the access cabs, but I need 4 doors.
If you have a garage, and want to park in it, measure it. Also, if you have to use a front plate, the mounting bracket adds about an inch to the length of the truck.

Long Bed in my opinion, and in my usage.

The shorter wheel base on a SB does not out weigh all the benefits you get with a LB.

And if you bought a SB because its too difficult to park a LB then you might wanna just stick to driving a civic.

Haha, NOPE! We live in the city and she works from home so she doesn't need her own vehicle. But if she did, it wouldn't be one with an auto trans.

DCLB is a horrible looking aesthetic. Wouldn't drive it if it were free.
