Same here. I can see the 3k to 5k spread, but 10k? Cheap insurance IMO at 5k.

    Jesus these threads.

OP, you can download owners manual and service information for you specific truck by going to the Toyota website and entering you VIN.

Regarding interval for your truck, do 5 k for now. Meanwhile, go online to Blackstone Labs and request an oil sample kit and pull a sample during your next change. They will give you a report with things like actual science and data along with professional interpretation about you specific engine condition, including recommended change intervals.

3k-5k, also depends on your driving habits and conditions. For example my truck sits on my driveway 5-6days out of the week, but I still change the oil regardless because of the short trips. During the summer I drive that bad boy every weekend putting on major mileage and change the oil once I see turning dark.

obviously Crisco, you can buy it in bulk and then you get a coupon if you buy a Brita filter with it. Pure Wesson is trash. They don't call it the "golden oil of death" for no reason!

Even though it's documented that conventional oil viscosity will hold up longer than 3000 miles, I still stick with this interval. I use the Castro High Mileage partial synthetic. Oil isn't expensive and changing the oil and filter is easy, so why not give your rig a little love on a more frequent basis. Renewing your oil on a regular basis is the single best thing you can do to increase the life of your motor.

But, don't forget about renewing all your other fluids too - Coolant, Transmission, Transfer Case, Differentials, Brake Fluid, and Power Steering.

Here's a few videos on the subject:

You can only run lard in desert or equatorial regions.

That's ridiculous, way too many additives for anything short of a race application. Maybe run it for 250 miles to block any leaks.
