Well I will start by saying I am new here. I just picked up a 2017 Limited 4x4. Traded in my Hummer H2 and so far its great except ..... The stereo. Came with the JBL system. I plan to do much modification to the stereo. I will prob drop the ENTUNE system. I don't care for how it functions and my kenwood excel deck from my hummer did much more (and was more user friendly). I have used the search function but have not been able to locate a picture of a dash that has had the factory deck pulled out on a 2016+. I would like to see how the dash looks with a screen in it if anyone has one around.

Aside from that ... a pair JL 10TW3s are going in. JL 500/1 and JL 300/4. Infinity kappas in the front doors and alpine type Rs in the back.

I have seen some great mods here. Look forward to picking minds here.

I guess another question I have is if I swap the factory audio system does this void my warranty (extended warranty)

The factory deck controls a lot of vehicle settings. What are you going to do about that?

I will have to look into the wire diagrams and get with the installers that will be doing it. Im sure by now modules have been made to bypass security and door locks ect that go through the unit. I hope I don't end up having to keep it in the end.

Well I found this. Took a lil further digging. Doesnt look like you loose to much. I figured the toyota system had already been bypassed by the main companies since they are using it in a few models and vehicles. This guy has one of the best systems I have seen here.

The thought of someone replacing the beautiful Toyota factory head unit with a Kenwood Exelon makes me giggle...

OP just take a few minutes and go through the screens in your factory "deck". You will lose the ability to control so much important stuff

Many of those features are still available. Steering wheel controls/tire pressure much of the vehicle info. The items lost are not of importance to me. At least not that I see now. Premium audio is a difficult task with that factory head unit. In order to get a flat signal you need a module (a good one there is a lot of junk out there ). Then a parametric eq needs to be added like the JL twk. Different strokes I guess. I wish I didn't have to do it. The vehicle settings on the radio on pretty nice. It's the radio flexability that stinks.

Here is a picture of mine. Kenwood DNX573s with Apple CarPlay home screen displayed. My SR5 had the audio plus system without JBL. I installled with iDataLink Masteo and can still access all the settings my original could.

Thanks for the photo ! I was trying to see what the deck installed looked like. I am looking at the two flagship models from kenwood and pioneer. I have owned a bunch of kenwood GPS units over the years but I am liking the look of this years pioneer. I appreciate the info.

That looks great, do you have a picture of how the truck settings look on the Kenwood? Also, will it send data to the screen between the gauges?

This deck pictured if I'm not mistaken is a Lil older. Still looks good and I'm sure functions better than factory for audio quality. The new ones or I should say bigger screens would prob look even better.

What "important" vehicle settings are lost when you replace the HU? I can't imagine anything worthwhile if you're doing that for the purposes of better audio quality and control. Things are coded via Techstream or configured via the cluster MFA/MFD. The stock HU is halfway decent (for stock) but still pretty terrible in the general realm of things.

Unfortunately I don't. It's kinda weird to get to, its settings, A/V, OEM setup. Then it's just a list and you touch to change so it looks kinda like this:

    Lights >
    Locks >

It's not as nice looking at OEM but it's there. As for screen between the gauges it will send song info and messages like "incoming call". The navigation page will sometimes display turns and sometimes it won't. Not sure why but I haven't really looked into it because I prefer to keep that screen on digital speed and fuel economy.

It's a current model. The DNX773s has a larger screen, which I almost got, but it lacks a volume knob, which I wanted.
