Actually anything can happen. You could gain/lose in different situations. Running a 35" tire on stock gears and 4 cylinder is not ideal. Your most likely hitting the gas a lot more with more frequent down shifting resulting in poor gas mileage. 4.88 is not that aggressive running a 35. If anything you may still be at a lower rpm than even stock with the 4.88.

Either way reqearing would be beneficial to anyone running a 35" tire especially on a 4 cylinder.

If gas mileage is your concern fall back to 33" tire.

Yeah on hills I struggle to maintain speed and going 70+ MPH forget it lol it won't hold it I am constantly pressing the gas to try and maintain it which is running my RPM's up over 3,000 to try and maintain the speed and it still won't do it. I just want some more power without totally killing my gas.

Sounds like my 3rd gen 4runner on 33s and 410s. But I can still barely gain speed at least.

I don't want to say you won't lose mileage but you will get the truck back closer to how it felt on stock tires.

Email dine reputable gear shops. They will explain it a lot better and may give you had mileage info.

But IMHO your now running at a way lower rpm than stock. Regear brings that rpm back so your in the powerband. Should help gas mileage.

It's not a drastic change and pricey to do so i never regeared.

Ok this is EXACTLY what I want for my taco, the front tow mount with hitch for winch, so I can move it from front to back. Remove it in the winter and when not using it. Please tell me the manufacture of your front end amazingness and the winch + accessories for it.

Yeah I have a 4.10 gear now. At 55-60 MPH I am running about 1500 RPM's in Overdrive. If I take it out of overdrive it jumps to about 2,500 rpms running 60 mph

    Thanks much.

The receiver with recovery points is @Mobtown Offroad . Here is the link:
    https://mobtownoffroad.com/product/front-recovery-bar/

I went overboard on the winch, but it was too good to pass up. Now the limiting factor is the receiver. It is the TJM 12K winch. Older model with a 7hp motor rather than a 5.5 that's been re-geared from the 9K. One problem with this was that its pretty big so I took me a couple tries to find the right carrier. This is the carrier that I ended up with and pretty happy with it.

Thanks. Good thoughts and prayers being sent your way. Seems like way too many threads on this board with a cancer theme.

I'm around 2,500-2,600 RPM @ 70-75 I couldn't imagine going 6"DB with 35"s and not having the 4:88s. Also I don't think they are helping my MPGs at all but it is helping my drive train not work as hard to get me rolling. I also am on the freeway 4-5 times a week. My MPG seem to take a hit at cruising speeds with the gears but my average stayed the same according to my ultra gauge. But I also have the 4.0 with this gearing so I don't know how accurate this would be for the 2.7.

Oh okay. Sounds like I just need to call around and find out a little bit more about 4.88 gears and my setup.

I would just go with the 4:88s since your running the 35"s and on a 6" DB. I would rather be over geared a little than under geared for the amount your going to spend.

No need to apologize, humor is what gets us through the shitty times.

Not sure, the pictures don't look good but go in for a PET scan next week to see what stage it is.

It's amazing how we let complete strangers know stuff I haven't even told my parents:D
