There's a local guy that @4x4runner2002 bought his parts 4Runner from that has the original one. Tried to buy it from him but he said he was going to retrofit it to his 1st gen Tacoma. Wish he would've let it go

Brake dust shields I assume? They're just annoying and get in the way

Mr detailer, any scratch and swirl removing product you like most? I was looking at getting the VSS from CG with their orange cutting pad.

 

^^^ curious as well. Just used some compound on my car and it helped, but there's still some scratches I want to get rid of.

 

I need my wheel to fall off and cause some damage.

 

Haha I'm surprised how well it's blowing over. Still have yet to spend a dime but I need power steering rack and Tundra brakes

which machines are you using? You wont be able to do anything but fill if you're doing it by hand.

I'm not a pro so I'm going with the harbor freight da polisher for the money. Has great reviews if you change out the backing plate and grease the gears. Going with a 5" BP.

 

theres no shame in that, its a good polisher for a hobbyist.

Good on swapping backing plate, that was my first recommendation.

I personally like this polish. It has a long work time and cleans up good scratches and swirls with ease.

Awesome. Thanks. Do I need to use a different polish after using that or is it a 1 step? What sealant do you use? Very new to the detailing scene and have been reading up on autogeek but like to talk to people that I'm familiar with.

it can be used as a one step and i have gotten some serious shit out with that polish. Just remember if you can feel it with your nail, its too deep.

I like this sealant. Incredibly easy to apply and remove and amazing durability and hydrophobic properties.

i use microfiber pads for most of my polishing. and those are fairly common and most are all the same.

so you don't necessarily need a cutting pad if you're using a cutting polish? Thanks for answering my questions btw.

 

not always, the orange pads for the most part is a cutting/polishing pad. Mildly aggressive. MF pads typically have more bite than a foam pad.

 

state farm. Super happy with how easy it's been to deal with them. Best part is, you don't need a deductible for damage that isn't involving another vehicle.

The whole process is a little annoying but I'm able to get a few necessary things done which is nice
