Does anyone know what part this is and why it would be leaking?

Looks like the ADD actuator on the front diff. Is that leaking or something above it leaking down onto it?

Yeah given the location of that, and the color of the fluid, it seems like motor oil leaking onto a transmission part. Follow the fluid back to where it is originating from.

looks like someone spun off the oil filter and let the crumbs dribble down to the front diff

I will take a look at it again. It did start leaking right after I got an oil change done.

I am gonna bet they just let the filter drain into the drain hole and did not catch it all
    when they replaced it.
