Run it to your local parts store.

Or check the gas cap for tightness.

I'm going to have to order a code reader from Amazon, probably won't know for a while. The truck will just sit until then

If it still runs, take it to any auto parts store and they'll diagnose it for you.

Otherwise just put electrical tape over it

    Welcome to the team, brother.

Stop by any auto parts store and ask them to scan your truck for codes. They will do it for free, but do not let them clear the codes until you have let us know what was recorded.

There is lots of knowledge here, and we want to share it, but without the code, we are all gonna go "full retard"

Serious questions with serious data will get serious answers.

All other times, this place is like Comedy Central.

    Again, welcome.

    Kirk from Michigan.

With that said, your account doesn't say what generation you hail from. With the low post number, I want to assume 3rd gen. A bit of inferiority issue going on? Hmm?

Of course I'm having fun. No hating going on. Just having fun.

Auto part stores won't check the check engine light for free in California. At least that was the law the last time I was there.

Even if there is a reasonable charge, no biggie. Have to diagnose it eventually and it'll probably be cheaper than at the dealer.
