What features would you recommend/ consider "must have" features on a leer/are shell for a 6ft bed. I'm looking to use it for storing/moving things and as a camper.

If windoors are a must, what are the pros & cons to solid vs glass?

A.R.E. CAP + Custom Storage System
    MY 5 THOUGHTS REGARDING CAPS/SHELLS

Getting the flip open windows was the best decision i made with my A.R.E. MX
I use the side windows to access stuff almost as much as the back window.
And getting the screen slide I can sleep in the back and have a good cross breeze with no bugs.

Getting the A.R.E. MX ( allowed me to do a 19" custom storage system and still be able to sleep comfortably and haul a decent amount of stuff when needed.
I think it looks great and will look only better when I get a cab rack to match
    [IMG]

I use the crossbars to have my hi-lift permanently mounted and for one trip attached a bag for additional storage (of stuff i didn't want inside like gas... until i get a good cab rack)

    MX over others
I did the higher style roof because I knew i'd be sleeping in the back a bunch but also because I knew I'd get a cab rack (hopefully this week)
With the cab rack I expect it to match heights really well and look really great. I'm also not a fan of a roof rack that does both cab and shell.

In any case those are my thoughts.
If it's at all a good fit my favorite thing are those side windows ... highly recommend.

Those of you with shells, how many are going with the fold-down or removable front window? Is it just for ease of cleaning or other reason?

I did the fold down slider for cleaning. Already used it twice. Makes it a breeze to clean both windows. I would recommend getting it.

You can get the seal that goes between if you want it for more than cleaning purposes

I heard the seal is sketchy because of the way the bed moves independent of the cab. Some have said it did not seal very well and/or rubbed off paint at the seal. I don't have any personal experience with the seal. FYI.

Honestly, I love the gear net in the ceiling. If you plan on camping out of the back it is great for holding cloths that you frequently use.

When I have my had my dog in the bed and wan't to leave both sliders open, I use a small bike inner tube to seal between the two windows. Slightly inflate it then slide it between the cab and cap then inflate it more to lock it in place. Blocks road noise and wind on road trips with the dog and allows the A/C to blow back there.

Dozer1970, Any issues with weight for the RTT on top of the ARE shell? I'm looking at a similar setup to you and want to sleep two adults totaling 300lbs on the top.

I got the sliding windoors from leer. Personally liked the look but the ability to open while camping and get a breeze was very beneficial

The fold down is more important than the slider in my opinion

Just play with it. See how the window shuts when you move it forward. There's no real science or right/ wrong.
