Did you have to do anything special to fit the X20? Where did you mount the control box? Sorry for all the questions. Trying to figure out which winch to buy. Would be great to install one that'll just drop right in...:D thanks!

Front bolt holes(near the fairlead) are a pain to install regardless of the winch. I mounted the control box in the top side location but it should fit any of the mounting locations. I may move it up to the location above the line so its a little easier to reach the box.

I did the same install today. I agree that the 1 inch painters tape makes you cut too much on some of the corners. Honestly the x20 was a pain in the butt to deal with (zeon would have been harder). Mostly due to the nature of the bumper. I mounted the control box in the center at first then moved it to the drum. Seemed to fit much better.

    Pictures tomorrow, no more light.

Thanks for the info! How much less do you think it should be cut at the corners? 1/8"?
I'm trying to decide between the x20 and the VR10-S. Probably end up going with the x20. I wonder if anyone has installed a VR10-S into this bumper?

Oh and I gotta say, I wouldn't recommend removing the whole bumper. It was so easy to cut with it on.

Also, I don't know where everybody got that the 1 inch painters tape is .91 I measured mine at .93

I agree with cutting the bumper with it installed. I did it and it was easy to cut with it installed.

I'm not sure how much less I would cut off. I'm going to try and adjust it a little more tomorrow and can see what it would take to eliminate the gap.

yeah I would definitely stick to the 1 inch tape on the top if you have the added bar though.

That would be some great info, thanks!

Ordered mine with the hoop. Thanks, will keep this in mine when cutting. Hopefully I can cut straight.

I may be wrong about any measurements. Thought I had it aligned bad for a second. Just noticed my bumper got damaged at some point during either shipping or at powder coat. Shipping box seemed perfect.:(

Heres a better pics of the small gap. I may have made it a little worse trying to adjust it today. Its looking like I may meet some of the SSO crew next month so I'll ask them to look at my install and see whats wrong, maybe its the bumper or maybe I messed up cutting somehow. If I were to have cut less it would have just been at the outsides a little before it starts to go down I would have stopped following the edge of the bumper and cut straighter keeping maybe 1/8" give or take. You can always cut more off but you cant add any after cutting. The top works great its just at the corners, driver side is worse than passenger side. Also I have no hoop.

Overall the bumper still looks amazing and you cant notice it from 10ft away. Here's a pic of the driver side gap.

Just wondering if you did or are planning on making a slimline bummer for the gen 2 Tacoma?
