Hey guys just curious if anyone has any experience dipping their emblems, and if it's worth it or does it just chip off quickly. Trying to get rid of the chrome on my truck. Thank you :)

Some people love it, some people do not!

Just make sure you clean the surface very well

Apply thin coats and let dry in between

The more coats the better, and it will be easier to remove if you dont like it.

Ive never derped anything lol, just read some comments on here....

Alright thanks, was thinking of removing the badges and using rustoleum bed liner spray on them for some texture but I'd probably fuck up putting the badges back on lol

I am so far, finally started to do things I've been wantin to do for a while, might give the 3m tape method a go because it'd probably be more durable than dipping

I have had mine dipped for 2+ years
    Very durable.
Plastidip can be peeled and redone.
If/when Paint chips ir cracks it will need to be sanded smooth before you could re-apply paint.

Projects like this is where plastidip shines:thumbsup:

Just had a Thread on this topic the otherday..
Someone posted a video of how easy it is to dip emblems w/o removal

    Ya its super easy:

    - Mask off all emblems with tape leaving 1/4" around the edges
    - Spray a light coat on first emblem, move to next. By the time you get around your truck spraying each emblem the first one in your order will be ready for coat #2
    - I did 8 coats total for each emblem
    - Let dry for a bit
    - Peel away tape and excess Plasti-Dip
    - Enjoy mod and have a beer!

Super easy and doesn't take long. It definitely gives a custom look. Be sure to go heavy on the over spray so it peels off easily. Use a toothpick for the detail work. What color is your truck?

Agreed. Seems weird to "spray paint" on your paint but just know it peels right off.

Yeah, it'll look good on red. In my opinion, though, if you have chrome anywhere it clashes. I dipped my grille at the same time for that reason.

Yeah I'm currently trying to get rid of the chrome, just did the nerf boards with rustoleum bed liner spray, just trying to decide on how to go bout the emblems and door handles

    I'd avoid plastidip on doorhandles.
Bumpers.. wheels and emblems work great.
Interior parts..door handles or any parts that get touched alot don't seem to hold up very well.

    Boosted Money Pit....
I did it last week. My first time doing it. Super cheap and easy to do. I should have added a few more layers so it was easier to pull off. I did 5-7 I lost track on some of them and I felt it was a bit thin. Some inner parts didn't pull off cleanly but overall its looks solid. Tooth picking the parts that did not pull off is probably the hardest and most time consuming part of doing it.

I tripped out before about spraying directly on but saves you time from removing the emblems, prep and paint and then tacking them back on. Looks clean and I hear most people after years looks good. Worst case you spend another $5 on another can of derp.

I've done it on all the emblems on mine... for me it looks good and super easy. The best part is that if you mess up just peel and start over.

One thing I will say is leave it to "cure" for 2 or 3 days before washing the car, because it's going to feel very rubbery and it will come off very easy with friction.
