I ran a Truetrac. It was great. Removed it for a locker though

No I haven't had them in deep snow but best believe it's gonna be helpful. Ice would still be an issue but a locker isn't going to help you any more on ice. 4x will be your best bet in snow. I don't have 4x4 so I just try to stay out of trouble when it's deep. But sometimes I slip up..I found myself on a forest road even 4WDs had chains on. It was iced over. I was stupid. Yada yada yada

How deep snow are you talking?

Really looking to save for a locker on my prerunner. Want it for the sketchy moments on easy trails. Not looking for craziness in my prerunner

Stacked spacer lift, 22x12 wheels with stretched 33's, tow mirrors, bull nuts.
Could also be axle wrap, the stock leaf springs suck on these trucks and axle wrap is a common issue.

I haven't had super deep snow, but sometimes I feel like I should have more grip than I do in 2wd. I have driven stock vehicles with a lsd, is it similar to that?

I've thought of that too, it according to the tsb's it only covers up to 2014.

Is what similar to that? A TrueTrac is an LSD.

You won't regret it. Just do your research so you know what you're getting and what other people are saying about them. Keep us posted on what you decide

Lockers help in any low traction condition, including ice.

Completely wrong information. Any low traction condition is going to benefit from consistent power being put to both / all wheels.

That's a great illustrative video (and great looking truck). Pretty much killed the thread. Question answered.

While the Truetrac is a great LSD(I would say the best), it still falls short in the off-road department. Once a tire is lifted it acts like an open diff. A locker is locked no matter what

Meh, I'm sure I don't have to tell you how to aid the TT in that scenario. Also, that only becomes a problem for those who actually get into more serious off-roading. I don't, and most others don't either. If youre wheeling to that extent, yes you should be looking at a locker instead.

I got it to aid in Hill climbing mainly. Still looking for places to stretch out her new legs :)

I know how to trick the Truetrac. And it is a great LSD. But it doesn't beat a locker.

I had a locker installed in the front diff so I wanted one in the rear as well. There's been plenty of places I've been wheeling where I've needed both.
