Planning on installing my lift kit this Saturday evening. Will it be ok to run until Monday morning before I get it to an alignment shop?

You can drive it but your tires will take a hit.

depending how much lift and how far you need to drive. But short distance shouldnt be too harsh on the tires. I wouldnt drive it for a month with out getting it aligned though.

You'll be fine, mark the OEM alignment and "get it close" .... as long as you're not going on a 500 mile vacation trip Sunday you will be ok.

Just do your best to adjust your alignment by eyesight, maybe even take a few measurements while your adjusting and you should get it close enough to be ok but don't be surprised if you can hear your tires squealing down the road

It isn't going to kill you just don't rack up 300+ miles on the truck between alignments. Mark the alignment cams if you loosen the LCAs so you get it back close to where it was. No big deal to wait a couple days.

If you are installing a lift then you will probably be getting new tires so who cares.

I installed a lift but I do not plan to get new tires until the stock ones wear out. My lift is only 1.5", I am not lifting for looks to install "bigger tires" so that's part of the reason I am in no hurry. I am more about function and performance personally.

    Smitty,

I loved your write up on your lift and plan to do the same after 1 year and hope my tires wear out ASAP within reason to bump it up a little.

Thanks if it even helps a couple of folks, I am glad that I took the time to write it.

I believe most of the process could be applicable to many other lifts too, not necessarily brand specific.

You can drive without any worry. It would take thousands of kilometres to do any real damage to tires (from a bad alignment).

I have a similar questions. Do I need to redo the alignment if I change the stock sr5 shocks to the stock OR shocks and springs?

Alignments are cheap. Just get an alignment if you do any major suspension changes.

You'll definitely need an alignment to get it perfect if you change the struts or leaf springs. The hardware that puts them in alignment is part of how they mount to the truck in the first place -- remember, smitty99 mentioned the alignment cams? Even if you get them perfect, they may need to be slightly changed if the spring rate changes or any geometry at all changes.

My local shop does specials on lifetime alignments for $150, you should invest in the same and just not worry about it.

You'll be perfectly fine for a couple of days. You won't ever notice it on your tires.

I've done over 500mi without alignment on my 2in lift, camber is obviously off just by looking at it. Ive noticed hardly any wear if any on my stock tires. I'm ordering my new tires mon and installing new wheels so I've been holding off getting an alignment so the tech has an idea of how much caster to try to put in.
