    Now that's the MacGyver spirit. About the only refinement I'd make is to tie it into the power door locks (i.e. remote). Not that I wouldn't also like that switch on the dash and the safety override you've added. Your approach is what I'd have done. I had an E320 Mercedes and was thinking of that basic approach because it was the only reference I had.

    The thieves can break those locking gas caps in two seconds. It happened to me.
    I came up with a manual deadbolt system for the fuel door. It is really simple and clever. I have had it on my 06 Tacoma for 7 years now with no problems. I will be making a YouTube video soon so you can see how to make it yourself. Or for $20 I will mail you the parts needed!
