I'm bleeding, shots fired! I agree, yes frame rot is a thing, but I just live in the right conditions to not have that problem.
A problem like OP is having really should never be a problem, if the factory didn't fuck it up putting it together, then it's a fatal design flaw. I thought the schizophrenic tranny was going to be the only problem, I am wrong, it's much worse.

    YOU ARE THE WINNER!

Toyota is ordering me a new sensor. They said trans flush wasn't needed but they will do it for me for good measure.

They'll do any needed tsb updates and will keep me posted if anything else needs to be looked at. Everything is covered so no penny out of my pockets which is nice.

Does anyone have an idea how we can prevent a faulty sensor?

I did get this sexy sr tacoma with absolutely no bells and whistles for a couple days

I believe there were some bad production batches in the '16s Not anything you could do yourself to prevent it. New parts we are assuming to be better.

I'd hope so. The trails I go to are usually off the grid so to be stuck somewhere out there would have been bad. Appreciate all the info @TacomaWorld members! Little back and forth jeering was funny too.

Trucks been good to me besides the sensor part. No REAAAAL complaints yet.

:DSee, this whole thing shouldn't even be happening, a cam shaft sensor should not need to be replaced on a truck this new. Production problems or not, Toyota shouldn't keep making more until they fix the problem, putting a new sensor in could just be a temporary patch, what if it "breaks" again? :frusty:

Well at least it's an easy fix so you'll be back on the road soon. Good looking truck, man.

I wouldn't be too worried. Lots of suppliers and bad batches through on everything. I've seen it so much. It's either been remedied by now or they've cancelled the contract and switched vendors.

Based on the vehicle info, I'd bet my money on the cps sensor op, no biggie.
The atf is the last thing i'd be concerned about, you'll be just fine its a well known issue with the cps

    Best of luck!
    Cheers!

Best looking 3rd gen I've seen, even though the chrome needs to go.

Yeah it sucks. Probably costs $3.00 to manufacture and lays out a $38,000 truck.

This guy is a 2nd gen owner troll who dreams of having a 3rd, or even a 6 cyl for that matter.
And he worries about acceleration on the 3rd gen ? What a joker.
Day after day all day long, same ol bs. Day after day, week after week.
