    Hey all,

Time for the timing belt replacement. Checking prices and the Idler pulleys are crazy expensive. Seeing as how the thing that can go bad in the pulley is the bearing I was wondering if anyone has had experience with rebuilding them or is new the only way to go. I guess I could leave the old as is but if they go bad at a future day I don't want to pull everything apart again just for one or both of them. Any help would be appreciated. I wonder if Timmah! has a timing belt video. I liked and used his VCG replace vid.

    Thanks

If I had a pulley off I could look.

In the past I have had pulleys that the bearings were not a standard size and were only sold to who put the pulleys together

Am I missing something? The pulleys are not all that expensive I can get NSK ones for about $38

    OP,
You can press out the bearing and replace that. Somewhere there is a write-up.

IIRC, the bearing is available at most motorcycle shops. The cost was around $8.00.

    Good luck.

I paid close to $500 just for the parts to change my timing belt... water pump, idlers, tensioner, belt and gaskets. I think my idlers are Aisin or something if I remember correctly. Yeah, they are pretty pricey.
