I just bought my new taco a few months. Like many TW members I wanted something that would basically have everything I needed for detailing. A lot of people recommend it Chemical guys products so I ordered this kit. However this kit is somewhat expensive and wanted to fill you guys in. I looked on a lot of websites and found it for $80-$120 plus shipping on some. When mine came in I noticed a shipping receipt was from Costco. I started looking into it... I paid $96.00 plus free shipping for the kit off Amazon BUT if you're a Costco member you can buy it off Costco website for $69.99 !! They also have a few other Chemical guys kits as well. I hope this helps some of you guys.

Quality seems to look good. I haven't been able to use it due to the weather. I'll let you know this weekend if it warms up.

I bought a $15 foamer from Amazon and it works great. Maybe in the future I'll buy the chemical guys foamer soap but I wouldn't spend that much money for those items.

This is a great starter kit. I have used a foam gun for years now and I never wash a car with out it. One recommendation would be to get two more buckets and two more grit guards, so you can dedicate one bucket for wheels one bucket for washing and one bucket for rinsing.

What's the benefit of the foamer? You still have to use a brush or mitt, correct?

It's will start to lift and loosen the dirt before you wash.

I already got it covered lol. I've spent hours looking at the detailing forms. You can get confused fairly quickly :annoyed:. What to use and not use, how to apply, and the list goes on.

I agree with @20tacoma17 and I'd never use a brush on the truck itself only the microfiber mitt. The only bush I'd use would be for the wheels.

Like someone already posted the former begins to break down the dirt and grime so when you do your two bucket wash you decrease the chance of scratching the paint.

On really dirty cars and trucks I foam the car first, let the foam sit for a few minutes then rinse.

The I take the foam gun with my wash mit and is spray the foam gun right before my wash mit as I wash the car. This really helps me keep from having dirt scratch the car as I am washing.

I learned this trick from Larry at AMMO NYC

The best way to wash a car is with a pressure washer and a foam canon but I have not upgraded to this yet as I need to get a new pressure washer that can work with a foam cannon as my current one is not comparable with a foam cannon.

In the end after you start using the foam gun you will begin asking yourself why did I not buy one of these along time ago.

I went on Costco and I don't have a membership and it looks like you can still buy it for 69.99 I didn't complete the order because I'm too lazy to get my wallet right now but it wasn't showing charging me any extra.

Way to resurrect a year old thread too! I’m still not sure I would go this route, since I would still have to scrub with a brush, mitt, sponge or whatever.

I personally think the foam gun is a gimmick. Just an extra step. I’ve used them before and don’t notice any difference from just hand washing. Spray the truck down with a hose first, then hand wash. No difference. :notsure:
