I have an engine oil leak on my 4 cyl (2RZ-FE) that appears to be coming from a sensor on the right (passenger) side of the engine. It is behind/below the exhaust manifold. I need to degrease the motor to verify.

    What is that sensor?

    Thanks,

I'm guessing it's an oil pressure sensor. How does that go into the engine? Is it threaded with a gasket like oil pan drain bolt?

It is threaded but usually it just threads into the block with no gasket. Most new ones come with a thread lock or sealer already on the threads. Typically it is the internals of the sender that fail and start to leak, not something that can be re-sealed on the threads. Just replace it if it is indeed the leak

Thanks for the reply. Got the part at the NAPA and it's 1/8 NPT. The old one was a little tricky to remove as it was 'engineered' for a special tool. Not SAE; not metric and an odd, almost flower shaped. got it out though.

New one had a thread sealer, but the amount and location was incorrect. Wrapped it with teflon tape and all looks good.
