The "parts" kit for the tracks includes a hex wrench (which one usually already owns) and only enough hardware (with a steep retail markup) to bolt each track down , if i remember correctly, in 4 places on each side. By buying my hardware at a big box store I not only saved $ I was able to bolt the tracks down with seven bolts per side, using almost every hole rather than skipping every other one. I bought all stainless but in hindsight I would have used just stainless for the buttonhead screws and standard zinc coat nylocks and washers, saving even more $

I also recently ordered a Leer XR100. They said if I want to eventually put a rack up top, to order it now with the rails installed at the factory. They don't do it at the shop I'm getting mine from.

Invoice for 100 XR with all the goodies $2587 OTD

I specifically remember the removable front sliding door as a $100 up charge and i want to say vented windoors were $150 per side

I had just the tracks installed on my cap. When I installed my Yakima rack, I had to remove the end caps from the tracks in order to install the T nut in the track that the rack screws into.

Removing the end caps required the removal of one of the bolts holding the track to the cap.

My dealer charged 200 for the tracks only on my raider shell (same as leer). Quoted me 300 for the whole kit with crossbars, but I had all that left over from my last truck. Probably should have taken the whole rack, I think I could have sold it for more than the 100 dollar difference...

I ran into this same thing. Had a Yakima rack to install onto the Thule tracks on my new shell. The Thule track nuts are shaped differently than the yakima ones, and allow you to install the rack feet without removing the end caps and breaking the factory seal on that bolt. I bought 8 of the thule nuts for a buck a piece, and they worked with the yakima feet/hardware.

Just went down and ordered a Leer 100XR for my DCLB today from my local dealer. I'm having Leer install the Thule Tracker II rack as the option is only $399. Apparently, the rack comes from Leer with 58" bars. I wanted longer bars for more (wider) load capacity. My dealer said they would exchange the factory bars for 65" bars that they stock. I'm satisfied, as I think the price is fair, and I really didn't want to drill/install the rack myself due to potential self-induced leaking issues.

    No leaks on my neither.

BTW, I'm selling my Thule Roof Rack, got 3 days ago and it didn't fit under my building garage.

    Send me a msg.

Here they are. Yakima nuts on the left. Thule version on the right. The Thule version can be installed into the rack without removing the end caps and then when you tighten the bolts they cam into place. I found them on etrailer.com. I actually ended up with 2 sets (ordered some, and then found some locally that I bought because I needed the crossbars asap). So I've got 8 extra I'd sell you if you want 'em.

Edit: I found them locally at RacknRoad, so you might have luck there if you have one close. Seems like it's hit or miss if they happen to have them on any given day.

Very helpful @fredgoodsell ! I went down to RacknRoad yesterday and they gave me 12 of the Thule nuts that they had in the shop! Thanks for the tip. I really didn't want to reverse the screws on the track since there was fresh silicone from the install.

My Leer 180 leaks everywhere except the roof tracks. Front and rear windows leak. Both side windows leak. I washed it a couple days ago and found the third brake light leaking... And of course the nearest dealer is 3+ hours away. Time to trade up.

Glad it worked for you too! I was in the same boat, didn't really want to break the factory seal on the tracks if I didn't have to.

For anyone else finding this thread in the future, here's the part number for the Thule track nuts: 853-2106
