Just bought an SR, the window sticker states that engine and transmission parts are 100% Japan sourced. Anyone know if these units are actually made in Japan? If they are, that would be an added bonus.

All 2.7's as far as I know, but if there is another engine factory making 2TR-FE's somewhere else in the world, and they needed more of them or some other supply issue came up, I'm sure they would do what they needed to do to source them for the production line.

O.K. thanks! I have no problem with Japan made goods. Been wearing a Seiko wristwatch for at least 40 years. May get a RAV4 in 2018 and I know they come from Japan.

Many RAV4's are actually made in Canada. The only RAV4 model you can be guaranteed is Japanese-made is the RAV4 Hybrid.

Indeed, TMMC Woodstock build their first RAV4 on November 3, 2008. Prior to that, all North American RAV4's were made in Japan.

In the Thread that had the brand new truck with a bad motor, there was some guy in there that kept insisting they were going to grab a brand new fully dressed engine off the assembly line right down the street from his house. Everyone told him he was incorrect but its nice to see that those engines come from Japan.

Yeah, I agree with you, probably the most "bullet proof" third gen.

There are RAV4's made in Japan, I was just saying that not all of them are, many come from Canada. The only models that ONLY come from Japan are the Hybrids. The others can come from either Japan or Canada.

Page 7 does Not say the Tacoma 2.7
It says the V6 . Also I don't get any evidence in the video at 6.30
I think the 2.7 taco motor is built in Japan

I'm going to check a Highlander or RAV 2.7 sticker at the dealer today, it it says "engine parts Japan" that would mean the 2.7's are made here, and should settle the matter.

There should be a window sticker stating that engine and transmission parts are 100% Japan sourced.

Just checked the Toyota site and the RAV has a 2.5, not 2.7, and the Highlander 2.7 specs. say 185hp. So, the Taco 2.7 might be a totally different animal.
